Historical Accuracy At Vintage Fair 2017

*Disclaimer: Not all accurate items are included. Most items here are new items for Vintage Fair 2017 but many stores do have older releases for sale that qualify as well. I will try to update the blog with those as well but of course always use your personal judgement and please do not be scared to contact me if you have any questions.

Vintage Fair is a "vintage" shopping event by Pale Girl Productions that runs annually in Second Life®. This years installment will run from June 9-June 25. You can get a taxi to vintage fair here!
I will be judging these items based on historical accuracy. Only items that I find historically accurate or could pass for accurate will be included in this post. Please assume that if an item is not listed that it is not historically accurate. Poses/animations will also not be included in this list. I will update this post from time to time and new entries will be found at the bottom of the post under the "UPDATES" header.

Arte - 1940's Makeup Pack

Comments:

First off this set is GORGEOUS. Not to mention largely accurate! Let's talk lips first. These colors are so accurate for the 1940's! As a part of the war effort women were encouraged to wear lipstick to keep moral! The most popular shades were vivd shades of red and orange-red. Brows in the 40s were all about accentuating the natural brow shape while also taking cues from movie starts. Now these lashes are a bit full looking for a 40's look. Women in the 1940's would not wear false eyelashes so if you are going to pick a lash look from this set I would go for the smallest pair! And Of course the lack of shadow is PERFECT. Ladies in the 1940's would not wear shadow or it would be very light in tone. Such a wonderful set from Arte!

Comet - 1920s Friends

Comments:

Well first it really *should* be called 1930's friends as Popeye and Betty Boop cartoons were first released in 1933 and 1930 respectively, however, Popeye was a popular cartoon that starting running in 1929 in the Thimble Theatre comics and Betty Boop was based on 1920's flappers, mainly Clara Bow. Anyway, these are just so darn cute! I'm honestly giving them the seal of approval because they are just that cute and they are true to the original characters! Very great set!

Deluxe Body Factory - Linda Skin

Comments:

Oh I love this look! It really is such a classic look! It honestly works from the 1940's-early 60's. I just cannot complain at all about this skin!

Eclectica - Lotus Leaf Jewellery

Comments:

Eclectica always brings us such great vintage designs! This set right here really is a timeless set and can work from anything turn of 20th century on! If you haven't be sure to stop by her mainstore to see what else she has to offer! Truly one of SL's best vintage accessory brands.

Fabia - Luida

Comments:

Ohh this mixes all the sassiness of the 1960's with a vampy look of the 20's! Really this cut would work well for either era. The classic Dutch Boy Bob look is such a nice homage to screen legend Louise Brooks but the added volume at the crown helps keep this style modern for the 60's. Let's also not forget that the 60's saw a resurgence of 20's fashion!

luisa - Fabia 

 Comments:

Oh so 70s! Honestly I think this hair could be even better if it didn't have the headband in it but really it is a perfect style for any 1970's look. This style features LOTS of feathering which was SO in vogue at the time. For sure give this one a try next time your party is 70's themed (Or for daily wear. No judgement)!

Lula - Fabia

Comments:

By far my favorite item for Vintage hair Fair this year! Oh this bouffant is such a classic and fun look. The flip at the end could be a bit more rounded like you curled your hair with hot rollers but you know how easily that falls out! I really cannot complain about any Fabia items!

G Field - Donna Square Toe Shoes

Comments:

Very perfect 1970's styled shoes! These could pass for late 60's but judging by the platform on the shoes I would keep them in the 70's personally. The flower accent on the buckle adds even more the the 1970's flower power aesthetic! Pair these with your favorite bellbottomed jeans and you're good to go!

Justice - Reianne Shirt & Skirt

Comments:

This set is perfect for the 1970's! Just like the previous pair of heels it could work for late 60's but I would really base this look in the early 70's. That whole jean/khaki/whatever skirt trend we are seeing right now? yea that comes from the 70's (it all comes back around!) This set is also very versatile in being able to pass for a modern look. Of course when planning a period look please wear decade appropriate colors as I would see this set in more muted, natural tones. Pair these with the Donna heels and you're good to go!

Kunglers - Irina Earrings

Comments:

Oh these are just so classic! They really will work for any era you put them in (well maybe not 1940's but it could work as a 'family heirloom'.) These I feel are very Art Nouveau/Art Deco inspired but we've seen chandelier earrings like this stay popular since they were introduced.

Mila - 1960's Eye Makeup

Comments:

I literally cannot say anything but praise for this. Oh my goodness this is so wonderful and I am so glad that creators are creating accurate 1960's Twiggy makeup in SL now!

No.Match_ - No_Secret

Comments:

Now of course I always think you have to see the back of a hair before you judge it but I love this one! It is so perfect for any look really 1920's-1950's as I feel that with the right styling it can work beautifully for any of these decades!

1920's Pendant Chandelier - %Percent

Comments:

%Percent NEVER fails to bring us fun and original furnishings! Her lighting is perfect for any vintage office/business setting. Honestly they can work at home too! This chandelier style can really work for any building 1920's on as people don't change out lighting with every decade often and this vintage style is back in! Check out %Percent's mainstore!

Sara Soa - %Percent

I can't say anything more about Percent than I already have! Of course this design I feel is a bit more on the Kitschy 50's design side but it could still work! Of course please check out %Percent's mainstore for more great original mesh like this!

Sese - Kathy Hair

All I could think of when I saw this was "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?" by The Shirelles! Another great 60s entry for this round! Long live the bouffant!

Velvet Whip - 60's Portable Radio, 70's Record Eater, Old Gramophone, Old Records

Oh these items are to die for! Velvet Whip always has great offerings at Vintage Fair and this year is no dud! it is just so much easier to talk about these items at one time because it's simple: There isn't much to say about these items! The images speak for themselves and Velvet Whip has brought us another beautiful set to Vintage Fair. Creators like this is what makes this event worth it!

Pan - Vintage Bedside Clocks

Comments:
No lie. My grandmother in RL still has a wind up alarm clock like this. Such a beautiful original mesh by Pan! Not only is this clock cute but it also keeps time based on either SL time (SLT) or any chosen time zone!

Wicca's Wardrobe - Olivia Dress

Comments:

Very beautiful original mesh! While the design plays a bit on the retro inspired side it still would pass my eye for authentic vintage in SL! Just don't wear opera length gloves out in the middle of the day...or with a dress this informal ;)

FIN - Relieve the Fifties - Fifties Princess Phone

Comments:

Okay FIN is just the best there is for mid-century furnishings in SL. Period. This phone is yet another wonderful product of his and it will look so great in any home (I'm getting one for my bedside table!) Please check out his mainstore!

Bliensen + Maitai - Editha - Necklace & Earrings

Comments:

This set is so darling and so 50's! Not only were pearls a staple of the mid-century look but the beautiful pearl and diamond accents are in such a lovely setting that it just screams 50's! Pair this set with any outfit, casual or formal and you're look is complete! Also check out their mainstore for more fun goodies!

Bliensen + MaiTai - Flapper Shoes

Comments:

Okay these are just SOOOOO cute! All of the adornments on these shoes are true to the period. They are a more formal design and I don't suggest wearing them for dancing because your feet will slip out without straps but still a super cute 1920's formal heel!

Bliensen + MaiTai - Be Bop A Lula - Small Bowls

Comments:

Perfect mid-century designed bowls! These are so typical of what you would find in a 1950's home and can be used for a range of things! Great buy!

Vicarious Youth - Poodle Skirt

Comments:

I love the girls version of this! Really this set is a really cute matching pair! The only disclaimer I can give is be wary of wearing a poodle skirt as an adult as this was really a fashion for teenagers! However it's SL so do as you please :)

Vicarious Youth - Lemon Dress

How cute is this? First off the pattern is adorable! But really there being 3 versions for girls of all ages is perfect! Not to mention the mesh model used for the ladies is texture very well. Probably the best use I have EVER seen of that mesh!

Vicarious Youth - Top and Pedal Pushers

Comments:

First; let's mention how great the model looks in these pants! This set really has some nice patterns and texturing in it! The jean shade is GORGEOUS (I prefer dark wash to light) and the different top patterns are just perfectly 50s!

Anachron - Bento Satin Gloves

Comments:

Finally some mesh bento gloves! These really do complete any 1950s look. The length of these gloves are perfect for day wear but you could get away with them for an evening look with how ornate they are!

Anachron - Carraway Suit

Comments:

I am so glad that we are getting some 1920's entries this round! This really is a perfect everyday suit for any 1920's man! Just pair it with a proper homburg hat and you're good to go!

ChiMia - 60s Vintage Socks & Tights

Comments:

These are super perfect! These are so accurately 1960's it hurts! Not only are the amazingly accurate but also available for Slink and Maitreya AND any Omega compatibly mesh body!

Erde - Diva Earring

Comments:

SO the name is just earring so I do not know if it is just one (which would be SO true to the era) but assuming this item is copy you will for sure have a matching pair! Oh this pair is so 1960's mod it kills me! Of course the model is modeled after Twiggy and I must know where that hair is from!

Yay for bento rings! I love this ring as it is such a timeless style! Nothing else more needs to be said than gorgeous!

Oh this is some typical 1950's lingerie! I love this and it will complete any 1950's stay at home, sexy look!

Very Glamorous! The neckline is a tad low and the slit is very high on the thigh but even the creator said it is vintage inspired. Really this is a lovely design that is sure to make a statement! It is available for Maitreya Lara and Slink Physique and Hourglass bodies.

I will never get over that we now have the Blessed Audrey's brows in SL. I will never never never.

Catwa - Marilyn

Comments:

I love that this skin is not your typical vamped up Marilyn skin! It is such an everyday look at Ms. Monroe and it for sure is a great buy for any Catwa user!

Roawenwood - Roxie Swingin Spanking Chair Set

Regardless of if you're into spanking or not, these are great looking chairs!

Yay for bouffants! I espeically love the volume on this one! Of course most women did wear bouffants in shorter styles but there was a lot of women who wore their hair long and BIG! I am in love with how much volume this style has. The higher the hair, the closer to God!

Malena Von Dash - Norma Dress

*Note* This is a pin-up styled dress and would not be suitable for everyday wear. Having that said as far as 1950's pun-up clothing goes this is a very accurate design! It has all of the elements that we are used to (and love) from Malena. She is very good about bringing us accurate pin-up clothing. This mesh is made for the Maitreya and Belleza mesh bodies!

Senzafine - Mildred Dress

Comments:

This dress is so darling! I cannot explain it any better than the creator did on Flickr: "Mildred is a pretty dress inspired by those worn during the depression era (1930's) and going into the 1940's. Though not 100% historically accurate, as always, I try to keep the things as faithful as possible to the spirit of those designs."

This takes the cake for my favorite hair at Vintage Fair! This is an older release from this store but isn't it something! The soft curls and the slight volume pair so nicely and I suggest everyone try this one out!

This is lingerie. Please please don't wear this as accurate day wear! However this is a perfect 1960's lingerie set!

Entice - Ain't Misbehavin'

1920's Fashion is very dear to my heart. Now while this isn't fully accurate it will definitely work for party wear! Do be warned that the hem is a tad short for an accurate 20s hemline but say in 1920's Berlin it would work for a dress at the Eldorado! Plus each color is L$99 at Vintage Fair! Can't beat that!
